The San Marcos River, often referred to as the jungle river of Texas, originates from a series of sizable springs. It flows with remarkable clarity from Spring Lake, embarking on a southeastern course towards Gonzales, gradually adopting a pale emerald green hue. The steep banks along the river are adorned with abundant vegetation, creating ample hiding spots for fish. This river caters to both seasoned and novice anglers alike. Its deep pools and dense cover conceal some impressive catches for skilled casters. For beginners, the river's fish-packed banks present numerous opportunities to learn about fish habitats and perfect the art of accurate casting.
