The fishing on this section can be slow for the first half. Launching at skulls road and getting out at martindale river access. This area is primarily pretty open and easy to fish. Largemouth and gar are the main target for the first half of the trip. Lots of slack water and pads, carp can be sight fishing depending on conditions. There is a big portage over the damn but it’s relatively easy and doesn’t require any help. Under the damn is loaded with anything from hybrid striped bass, black bass , gar , and crappie! This can be fished fast in a few hours or can be picked apart and slowed down to a full day. Once past the damn it’s relatively shallow with a few opportunities to target some big tilapia. Big striper have been caught under the damn so you never know what you might get on this one!
