Launching from the southside of San Marcos, this float is the most challenging for any angler. Super small water shallow in ultra clear with finicky fish and more logjams and overhangs, and you can shake a stick at. I feel like this trip above all others requires the most skill in casting. The section is also super rewarding and holds lots of big Guadalupe bass. The San Marcos meets up with the Blanco river. At the confluence, you will go from small water to bigger river. There’s also a dam with a dangerous portage here the portage definitely requires a hefty amount of work for both of us. If you have any problems getting around or any injuries that could impact you, I would stay away from this one. Under the dam provides great fishing and highly oxygenated water, which holds good fish. This trip is a couple miles long and offers a variety of different environments and challenges.
