If you are looking to get into some Steelhead, this is a killer option. Both hatchery & wild steelhead call the feather river home. The natives are Central Valley Steelhead with feather river hatchery steelhead supplemented, both very hard fighting fish pound for pound. They tend to go air-born when hooked, with long fast runs into your backing. Sometimes it’s quality over quantity, other times is quantity and quality. summer/fall/winter/spring depending on the flows. Salmon make their way up as well, trigging the steelhead to follow for what’s known as the “egg bite” & this is when the fishery really shines! By catch’s can include shad, pike minnow, sucker fish and stripped bass. Overall a really fun venue! Let me show you around! -The trip covers 2 anglers, rods, flies, & tackle are included -cold drinks & deli style lunch -Typically fish for around 8-12 hours -meetup location Oroville, Ca -Boat type, Clackacraft -Must bring fishing license/steelhead card 530-690-6636 for meetup address and time!

If you are looking for a day of steelhead fishing but don't want to endure the intense conditions a coastal river may have? Look no further. The Feather River holds one of the best steelhead runs in the North Valley of California. Only an hour and twenty minutes north of Sacramento, it's prime location makes this a great option for the greater Silicon Valley. With two distinct runs of steelhead (fall and spring) there are endless opportunities throughout the year to target these fish. Not only are they plentiful, but they are very user friendly. It is not uncommon to have double digit days on the feather. On average, fish range anywhere from 16-24 inches. When hooked, they tend to peel drag and jump like no tomorrow. This trip is an excellent option for beginner and novice anglers alike, as you will have multiple opportunities to land a steelhead.

The Lower Sacramento River Rainbow is the base standard of what a wild Rainbow Tout is. The Lower Sacramento River is cold and pure, full of insects. No stressful winters reducing insect hatches to nil. Nope. There are insect hatches all spring, summer, and fall. And in the winter, the Rainbows of the Lower Sacramento eat BWO’s, Salmonfly Nymphs, Eggs, Salmon Fry, and the large volume of midges this river doles out. If you are having a tough fly fishing day on the Lower Sacramento, it’s probably because your flies or lures aren’t in the water long enough or the river flows have come up as they do in the spring (typically June).

The Lower Sacramento river is FUN! It comes out of Shasta Lake, into Keswick Lake, out of Keswick Dam and then travels down the state of California into the Sacramento Area. We fish the "top section" which is usually from Anderson, CA up to Redding, CA. It all depends on the time of year but you can expect to have an amazing float with plenty of fish to be had. One of the best rivers to catch football sized wild rainbow trout in the lower 48! This place is a trout factory. These fish pull hard. There are many who say that these trout pull as hard, if not harder, than Alaskan rainbows. It is not uncommon to catch plenty of 18"+ fish in a day. There is also times of the year where we can chase steelhead on the fly on this river! Usually around the September time frame. This is an ALL YEAR ROUND fishery with some months performing better than other months. As long as you are on the Lower Sacramento River, you have a chance to battle a radical bow that will be as wild as the scenery.

Baum Lake, a 75 acre spring-creek like fishery is a year round venue here in Northern California that has rainbow/brown trout, both stocked & holdover. Diverse insect hatch’s make this a great place to pickup fish on a dry fly, streamer or indicator. The action can be nonstop, in fact I consider it an excellent place to have a lot of fun or just learn the basics. Overall the scenery is epic, fishing is epic, & a ton of wildlife!
