This is a walk and wade trip on the Little Juniata River. The Little Juniata River, often referred to as the "Little J," is a renowned trout stream located in central Pennsylvania. Here are some key facts about the river: It is a tributary of the Juniata River, joining it near the town of Petersburg. It is primarily known for its wild brown trout population. However, it also supports some rainbow trout and native brook trout.
Fly fishing is the most popular method used on the Little Juniata River, particularly dry fly and nymph fishing. The river is famous for its prolific insect hatches, which provide excellent opportunities for dry fly fishing. Major hatches on the Little Juniata include mayflies (such as Sulphurs, Blue-Winged Olives, and Hendricksons), caddisflies, and midges.
The "Little J" is a great river to test both your dry fly and nymphing game, but do not hesitate to book this trip if you feel intimidated by dry fly fishing. We can teach you the basic and get you up and running in no time to ease your mind. Besides the fishing, the scenery is beautiful in the spring with everything blooming.
