The Lower Sacramento River Rainbow is the base standard of what a wild Rainbow Tout is. The Lower Sacramento River is cold and pure, full of insects. No stressful winters reducing insect hatches to nil. Nope. There are insect hatches all spring, summer, and fall. And in the winter, the Rainbows of the Lower Sacramento eat BWO’s, Salmonfly Nymphs, Eggs, Salmon Fry, and the large volume of midges this river doles out. If you are having a tough fly fishing day on the Lower Sacramento, it’s probably because your flies or lures aren’t in the water long enough or the river flows have come up as they do in the spring (typically June).

The Lower Sacramento river is FUN! It comes out of Shasta Lake, into Keswick Lake, out of Keswick Dam and then travels down the state of California into the Sacramento Area. We fish the "top section" which is usually from Anderson, CA up to Redding, CA. It all depends on the time of year but you can expect to have an amazing float with plenty of fish to be had. One of the best rivers to catch football sized wild rainbow trout in the lower 48! This place is a trout factory. These fish pull hard. There are many who say that these trout pull as hard, if not harder, than Alaskan rainbows. It is not uncommon to catch plenty of 18"+ fish in a day. There is also times of the year where we can chase steelhead on the fly on this river! Usually around the September time frame. This is an ALL YEAR ROUND fishery with some months performing better than other months. As long as you are on the Lower Sacramento River, you have a chance to battle a radical bow that will be as wild as the scenery.

The Trinity River, the principal tributary of the Klamath River, stretches 165 miles through the Klamath Mountains and coastal ranges, creating an ideal habitat for Fly Fishing. This river, covering a watershed of nearly 3,000 square miles in Trinity and Humboldt Counties, is renowned for its prolific runs of Chinook Salmon and Steelhead, offering a rewarding Fly Fishing experience that has been integral to the livelihood of native people for millennia. In the present day, the Trinity River serves as a crucial water source for the thriving agribusiness in the Central Valley, while also standing as a hub for Northern California recreation. This includes gold panning, white water rafting, hiking, scenic camping along its shores, and of course, Fly Fishing. The Trinity River is also home to the Trinity River Hatchery, known for providing a healthy annual hatchery Steelhead return. Anglers fortunate enough to land a hatchery fish during their Fly Fishing adventure will savor the fine table fare, a reward that complements what many regard as “the fly fishing experience of a lifetime”. Offering fall, winter, spring, and summer runs, this river is a perfect spot for Fly Fishing almost all year round. Baum Lake, a 75 acre spring-creek like fishery is a year round venue here in Northern California that has rainbow/brown trout, both stocked & holdover. Diverse insect hatch’s make this a great place to pickup fish on a dry fly, streamer or indicator. The action can be nonstop, in fact I consider it an excellent place to have a lot of fun or just learn the basics. Overall the scenery is epic, fishing is epic, & a ton of wildlife! I would consider this a relaxing type of fly fishing where you can take a seat & still catch fish. Let’s get you out there! -The trip covers 2 anglers, rods, flies, & tackle are included -cold drinks & deli style lunch -Typically fish for around 8-12 hours -meetup location Burney, Ca -Boat type, Clackacraft -Must bring fishing license 530-690-6636 for meetup address and time!
