A full, or half day of sight fishing to feeding carp from the bow of the skiff! Enjoy the scenic Columbia river gorge while we cruise the various flats looking for tailing fish. A super fun way to spend the hottest part of the long summer days chasing some true monster size fish. And great practice for your next trip to the salt. Part of the allure of carp fishing for me is being able to stalk them visually, watch them take the fly and then hold on while your line disappears from the spool.

November through January, the Lower Laguna Madre becomes host to over 700,000 Redhead ducks, Pintails, all three species of Teal, Widgeon and other species of waterfowl. This provides the chance to combine a little fishing with some outstanding duck hunts. "Winter" this far south is a kindler, gentler thing with many days with highs in the 80's, lows in the 50's. A few "Blue Northern" cold fronts pass through each season that will drop lows into the 40's for brief periods with quick recoveries on the back side of the fronts. Many seasons we are able to use wade fishing boots up until Thanksgiving. Light waders needed for late season. The best hunting takes place after the split (Thanksgiving to the end of the season in January). Fishing stays consistent to great with large numbers of Speckled Trout and consistent Redfish caught. Both hunting and fishing pressure are comparatively light here Trips are usually run in the afternoon. Departure around 12:30 to allow time to fish before setting down to shoot some ducks. Arrangements can be made for morning hunts and full afternoon fishing or vice versa at an additional cost.

Launching at scouts camp just south of the city of San Marcos, and taking out at skulls crossing. This is one of the more popular routes people fish. With a healthy mix of rapid sections and bigger slow moving areas this section has a lot of variety and holds really good quality fish. There are some spots I recommend wading but it’s not a necessity. The Guadalupe bass and smallmouth are the main target around rapid sections and moving water. While largemouth and gar are usually holding around pools. Summer time this is a place you want to fish the morning due to tubers. This section is also great during the white bass run.
