Kenai River ReconSockeye Salmon Fishing
Pound for pound one of the hardest fighting fish in Alaska. Sockeye salmon trips are conducted on the river banks of the Kenai or Kasilof River. After a short power boat or drift boat ride your guide will set you up on the bank and coach you on how to hook into and land these hard fighting salmon with a fly rod. No experience necessary as the technique is easy to learn and the fish are plentiful at most times. Full day trips are typically not recommended as you may catch your limit in a few hours at times. Suggested trips are either a 1/2 day (limit not guaranteed) or a 3/4 day (better chance of a full limit). Your guide will fillet all salmon and have them ready for a local processor of your choice. Due to our short fishing seasons in Alaska, we require a 60-Day written notice of cancellation for a full refund less 10% administrative fees. Less than 60-day cancellation will be subject to forfeiture of your deposit unless the trip can be rebooked.

RiverRise Fishing GuidesSilver Salmon Trip
Our Silver Salmon Season kicks off with our early run on August 1st and will last all the way until our last day of the season, September 15th. We fish from both Drift Boats and Power Boats and tailor our Fully Guided Silver Salmon Fishing Trips to the run timing and size. One day we could be fishing on the Kasilof River, and the next you’ll find us chasing them on the Kenai River. Our trips remain flexible so that we are able to provide our clients with the highest chance of success. Our team of guides are very proficient in both Fly Fishing and Conventional Fishing techniques. We offer Fly Fishing trips with a technique known as “Spey Fishing” using a two handed rod. When fishing with conventional gear for Silvers, we use a variety of techniques based on the river levels and run timing, but a vast majority of that type of fishing will be done completely from the boat. We offer both half day (4 hours) and full day (8 hours) Guided Trips for Silver Salmon and all trips are “all-inclusive”, meaning we provide everything you need to fish with except for your licenses and stamps. After your trip, if you plan to keep fish, we will filet and prepare your catch for transport to the processor so that it can be packed and prepared to ship back home.

Most of the rivers we fish are covered in ice and a blanket of snow during a large portion of the year. If you're visiting Alaska in the winter and want to get a fishing rod in your hands, ice fishing Alaska is an amazing trip and a great time for all ages and all experience levels! Hard water fishing is a big part of Alaskan life and we are happy to share it with folks visiting our great state. We are able to take folks out ice fishing throughout the greater Anchorage area and the Mat-Su Valley. Once the location is decided we will have you meet us out at the designated lake. Once we get there, guests and guides will walk out on to the lake and up goes the warm portable pop up ice shelter and out comes the ice auger to drill through the ice. Hot drinks or cold beer are readily at hand throughout the day, and a heater is churning away keeping the hut toasty and warm. We also provide homemade chili as a delicious hot snack. Everyone gets a fishing pole to pursue a variety of fish such as rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, juvenile salmon, black fish, and Arctic char. We also provide comfortable seats and ice cleats to help you make your time on the ice as comfortable and easy as possible. We provide almost everything you will need to have a great day out on the ice!

July 22 to July 29~ Eight Days / Seven Nights July 31 to August 6~ Seven Days / Six Nights August 8 to 14~ Seven Days / Six Nights August 16 to 23~ Eight Days / Seven Nights August 25 to September 1~ Eight Days / Seven Nights The Goodnews River flows a relatively short sixty miles to the Bering Sea. from the Ahklun Mountains, some 395 miles from Anchorage. It is small enough to wade effectively and sight fish but large enough to float comfortably; having to float fewer miles also lends to a slower pace allowing for more wading opportunities than longer rivers. You will find some of Alaska's best fishing on the Goodnews, and our special use permit enables us to offer the best start dates. The Goodnews boasts impressive runs of all five species of Pacific Salmon, sea-run Dolly Varden, and resident Leopard Rainbows and Grayling. July offers the most variety of fishing, with King, Chum, Sockeye, and Pink Salmon, the latter returning in even-numbered years. As July fades and August arrives, the Coho or Silver Salmon show up; it is a time when bringing all five species of Pacific salmon to hand is not an improbable task. Resident species live throughout the river and follow the Salmon upriver as they prepare for their spawning rituals. Chrome bright Salmon, most still with sea lice, are the norm. These fish are fresh and feisty and will challenge your angling skills. As part of our Goodnews River program, we use tents made here in Alaska and designed for Alaska's extremes. These tents hold two anglers, have 6-foot ceilings, and come equipped with cots, chairs, and sleeping pads making for a relaxing place to retreat after a long day of fishing. Additionally, we have a custom-built communal gathering tent where meals are prepared and taken and a cozy place to hang out in bad weather. Experience safari-style camping and a menu that's a wilderness favorite, wake to a hearty breakfast and more great fishing with our experienced guides. Help to make, and break camp is appreciated. We utilize one guide for every two anglers while floating the river in custom-built rafts, each equipped with custom frames with front and rear seating. The group will settle into different campsites each night, and each stop will provide quality fishing opportunities. The Goodnews River traverses just a portion of the 4.7 million-acre Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. We encourage our guests to respect the refuge's natural heritage, resources, and the people who reside there. We designed our trips to do just that and strive to provide our guests with minimal-impact back-country adventures that are educational and enjoyable.

King Salmon Fishing
Guided fishing from a drift boat for King Salmon on the Kasilof River. The Kasilof is "drift only" with no powerboats. Early season (June) has both wild and hatchery Kings available giving you a limit of 2 fish. Fishing with rods in rod holders while you enjoy floating down the river until the "big one" takes your line. (subject to changes depending on current regulations). Full day only 6-8 hrs. Your guide will fillet all salmon and have them ready for a local processor of your choice. King salmon fishing is difficult on some days as they run in fewer numbers so be optimistic and have a positive attitude.
